Student Legal Services

The Student Legal Service is run by dedicated University of Tasmania (UTAS) students for the benefit of the entire community. It is free and confidential, and supported by great local lawyers. We aim to act as a first point reference to help assist with legal advice, guide with legal direction, and find solutions to the communities legal problems. The SLS are run by senior law students in their penultimate and final year of study. We are monitored by solicitors working in the community legal scene in Hobart, who work voluntarily with us! We are open to EVERYONE in the community! SLS is also able to provide free migration legal advice to all UTAS students every Thursday. The SLS aims to provide community legal education also. Throughout the year, we provide information sessions on important and topical legal issues which affect people in our society. These information sessions aim to guide people to their rights and responsibilities under the law.
