Reviews

I almost completely disagree with the previous review. Anya was absolutely fantastic! Maybe it was just my learning style that helped, but I would go to the extent to find another subject that she runs and enrol. All the information is based on the textbook, which she helps us understand by putting in videos, graphs and doesn't make the slides dense with text. If the slides were dense with text, that would be incredibly boring. If you read the required readings prior, the lectures are absolutely fantastic. However, I will agree that the discussions in the lecture aren't my favourite part... I'd prefer that to only happen in tutorials. Oh, and the tutorials are fun. Especially if you have Ella Hafermalz.

I do not recommend this unit to anyone. First the lecturer Anya Johnson does not know how to teach a lecture. No content from the textbook whatsoever is covered in her lectures. Instead all she does in the 2 hr lecture is put videos, graphs, and have discussions. Literally, the slides are so short, there is limited text on them, and just plain boring. It seems like she doesn't even read the textbook or know the content. She does not give a detailed explanation of the the approaches and theories. Instead she briefly goes over them. Her lectures bore me. They are pathetic. However on the bright side, the tutorials are alright, they are fun and interactive, which are actually more beneficial (the one star is for the tuts). I think the university should consider replacing the lecturer.
