Legit my favourite unit I've ever done. Bless Stesen and his smashed avocado metaphors.

Overall, this subject was actually quite enjoyable considering it was a stats subject. I think the psych department tries to make it fun as they can and they give you so many resources for studying. You have tutorial exercises, do the homework and they give you even more practice Qs so there’s no excuse to fail really. It’s compulsory for a psych major but it really isn’t too bad!!!

A challenging course if you do not keep up to date and are prepared for constant tutorial quizzes. Do go to lectures and spend most of your study time practicing questions, it is the most useful use of it. The teachers are good but at times their explanations aren't great.

Content is easy, assessments are more difficult. The final exam can be more tricky, as it is more conceptual based and more of the simple and more overlooked subject matter is often in there.

Anonymous, Semester 1, 2015

It's not so hard once you grasp the Math concept

Anonymous, Semester 1, 2015

The assessments are a lot harder than the course content. Make sure you know everything from the last lecture/tute before progressing to the next one. Also, the Maths Learning Centre only has 1 or 2 tutors that can help with this unit. So learn who they are and when they are in the centre so that you can get their help. You'll need it!

Anonymous, Semester 1, 2015

Either you must have taken 2 unit maths at school, or be very competent within general mathematics. If you have not done maths since year 10, you will need a tutor. Please find one sooner than later!

Anonymous, Semester 1, 2012

It is hard but if you haven't done maths in a long long time but stick with it and it will click for you and when it does you will wonder how you didn't get it before. Well organised and structured course. Probably one of my favourites for keeping my attention because you really had to concentrate. No slacking off in this one

Anonymous, Semester 2, 2010

If you did stats in first year (science kids) then this won't be too bad of a course at all. Lectures are clear, tutes can move pretty quickly through content though.

Anonymous, Semester 1, 2014

Really easy if you have ever done a statistics course before. Pretty much stats except taken baby steps at a time. Final exam is just multiple choice and assessments are all extremely straightforward. Compulsory for a PSYC major but extremely easy to get very high marks in the course
