Nick will be one of the best lecturers you'll ever have. Humorous in his own way, and explains concepts in concise terms. Tutors are also very helpful.

A throughly enjoyable unit! I chose it as a first semester elective in a Science degree and ended up being very grateful for that decision. If you're an analytic minded person or have a knack for languages this course isn't too tricky. The assessment schedule was a god send, with weighting split up among five assignments (which are essentially worksheets), a mid-sem and a final exam (only 40%). I was initially worried that there would be a lot of content in the final exam but it was pretty much entirely grammatical analysis much in the same style to what we had been doing all semester. The lecturer is great and very entertaining and engaging as a speaker and educator. The tutors are all very knowledgeable about linguistics so any questions you have or bits the lecturer didn't cover are more than sufficiently answered in your tutorials.
