Reviews
I just saw these reviews on the front page and not surprised nothing has changed lol. Thought I’d give a quick piece of advice. DONT TAKE THIS SUBJECT!!!!!! It takes up all your time and certain staff don’t care about criticism.

This subject is poorly designed, poorly assessed and you will regret it if you take it. If you are willing to give all your time to doing assignments (no tv, no relaxing, no sweet dreams), go for it.

Easily one of the most enjoyable courses of my undergrad uni career, scored a 90+ HD mark. The assignments were a fun way to spend 20 hours and the course instructors gave us a new assignment every 2 weeks. DO NOT ATTEMPT if you cannot program your way out of a wet paper bag, a pure programming and no BS course, overall a solid 5/5.

Once again, the lecture notes and textbook do NOT give you enough information to handle the 5 consecutive assignments that make up the 70%. Many of the cohort spent hours and hours researching online everywhere despite John saying lectures, tuts and textbook "is enough". For the 2nd Assignment, people got terrible marks back and complained because it didnt make sense given the effort and ed testcases they passed. So they remarked it and boosted everyones marks. Gets you thinking if no one complained, staff would not care to remark. The course is useful and John knows his stuff but he does not know how to teach and assess for university students who don't know anything about C. Many of my friends who did really well said the lectures were "absolutely useless" in order to even start the assignments. Its a shame because the idea of the subject is good but some of the staff behind it and its delivery is disappointing. AVOID THIS SUBJECT IF YOU CAN

Heavy workload but very good content. The staff needs to improve the administration.

Really heavy workload, but content is useful and good. Not impossible to pass, but you need to be very consistent throughout the year since the weight of assignments is pretty big.

Not friendly for students, once students complained the course was hard in first half of the course, John did the revenge on students, which is not giving the sample quiz and sample practice to students to lower the average mark and increase fail rate. Would not recommend it.
