Reviews

I agree with previous reviewer: great unit, and a must-do if you want to do Honours or any further study. The readings can be quite long most weeks (ie 40+pp), but there is a wide variety of possibilities to choose from (there is a reading journal assignment) - so not too big a deal, and they are all super useful if you're an ANHS or History major. Huge number of available essay questions too, so you're unlikely to get stuck writing about something that doesn't interest you. Highly recommend

Great unit! A must-do for history and ancient history students. Ben Brown is a terrific lecturer, and his confidence and knowledge in the subject matter will make you wish he was your teacher for every unit. Not only is his marking very generous, but he is a great teacher in leading discussions and giving live feedback in tutorials. I am not a great tutorial participant but was still able to contribute and receive marks for my participation in the weekly journals. Would take this unit again if I could!
