One of the best subjects offered within the Agricultural Faculty. Prior to the semester, students spend 20 days in Lao PDR to analyses agro-ecosystems embedded in their agricultural practices. There is also an opportunity to speak to a range of stakeholders, from government officials to rural farmers. During the semester, there is a 30% presentation and 60% report on a chosen topic, which students negotiate with the lecturers. It's a highly enjoyable trip which I'd recommend to any keen traveller with an interest in developing countries agricultural systems.
