Reviews

The course covered regulation but touched on industrial organisation and many microeconomic concepts as well. Interesting unit but some sections were more challenging to understand.

What we explored in this course was interesting (e.g. game theory, collusion, double marginalisation problem, asymmetric information), and with a small class (about 30 people), it was more relaxed, with careful attention given to people asking questions. The mid term was fair, with lots of maths and a little problem solving and short answer questions. It was great that Luke came in for two lectures to speak about real life competition policy and economic regulation. There are a lot of mathematical equations on the lecture slides, which can be overwhelming. Tutorial exercises (problem set questions) were helpful, but unfortunately the final exam had very different questions. In summary, a good economics elective if you're interested in this field.
