Hi there!

I'm Stuart and I'm a private tutor based in Newcastle with over 10 years of teaching experience in physics, chemistry, statistics and mathematics. I have extensive experience of 1 to 1 tutoring of both undergraduate and postgraduate university students as well as several years of lecturing university level courses and doctoral candidate supervision. I am very passionate about all things relating to science, mathematics and enjoy teaching and assisting students with these subjects.

My academic background is in theoretical physics, where I obtained an MPhys degree from the University of Manchester, UK, with First class honours. I then went on to do a PhD in experimental nuclear physics and during my postgraduate studies I was fortunate to travel all across the globe working at a number of different research laboratories. Upon completion of my PhD I moved to Finland for a postdoctoral position within the gamma spectroscopy group at the University of Jyväskylä. Alongside my postdoctoral research I was given the opportunity to teach the first nuclear physics course to undergraduate students. I'm very passionate about research and teaching students, it gives me great pride in helping students overcome challenging aspects of courses.

My lessons are tailored to the needs of each student, whether that is focusing on learning and understanding of core concepts or applying the knowledge gained to practice problems and exam style questions. My aim is to ensure that every student comes away with a better understanding of the fundamentals and an appreciation for the material so that they can confidently apply themselves to whatever assessments or assignments they may have.

If you would like to arrange a meeting to see how I can help you with your studies, please send me a message and I will be in touch.
