Reviews

There is a lot of theory in this course, but the lecturer Shane Holtaas provides extensive notes and slides that helpfully summarise and offer insight into each week's content. It is a lot of dense material and hard work, but is also interesting with pretty good assignments. If you put in the effort, it is a rewarding course

It's dense, hard-core theory, but don't let that scare you away! this is the nuts and bolts about how texts work, and the various critical perspectives that have tried to explain the relationship between the text, audience, author and broader world. A great grounding in literary theory.
