The labs in this unit are really interesting and make learning a great deal very easy. I found the lecture content to be extremely dry and very hard to learn because of how boring it was. It barely touched the surface on each topic so I felt aI learned very little. Whilst containing a huge range of content the in semester assessments were relatively easy, especially the midsem exam. The exam was not particularly difficult but only tested a few of the topics rather than the (approximately) 15 topics we actually learned in the semester so some of the unit content was never even tested. The practical exam is very easy and very short and felt completely unnecessary. Considering the structure of the exam I feel the two exams could have been combined to save a lot of time. Wouldn’t recommend this unit if you like to really understand how concepts work but if you prefer to wrote learn facts this might suit you.

Exams not overly hard. However, labs get confusing and are poorly run. You finish last weeks lab, and start this & next weeks lab all in the same day. So you find yourself rushing just to keep up with the procedures on time rather than actually learning and understanding what it is that you're doing. You then have to write a report, and half the time you're totally confused as to which part of the lab you're actually writing about. They usually run overtime, and you get out late. I missed the first lab, and was not shown how to do correct procedures in the lab. Was offered no guidance. However, lecture content easy to understand.

Great unit with really interesting labs. Sometimes there is a lot of content and memorising to do but overall it was enjoyable
