Top third level chemistry unit. 3x1hr lectures each week but the workshop questions were lacking and ineffective. Also not a fan of Lisa's lectures where she had pre-lecture content. I found this messed the flow of the lecture content. But the best part of this unit was the laboratory. Pre-lab quizzes are not assessed but are still required. There are eight practicals consisting of two in-lab assessments and six performas. Luckily for myself, I had an inexperienced TA who was very lenient in marking the in-lab assessments which essentially included a group and 1 on 1 Q&A type of assessment. On the other hand, the performas were very easy to answer but this may be the result of doing advanced chemistry units last year which were much harder. They even gave us a 10/10 report to reference and a chance to resubmit the first report if we were not satisfied with our mark. Next, there was a random radiopharmaceutical assessment where we were required to answer a worksheet based on 3x1hr lectures. This alone did not cover the worksheet but they offered a help session during the laboratory which may have been effective if I attended. Lastly, the exam was manageable but proved to be slightly difficult because they only supplied one practice exam similar to the mid-semester exam. Andrea also organised three site visits to CSIRO, the Product Makers, and Mimotopes (I didn't go but seemed fun). Overall, easy pass.

Great unit. Unit coordinator (Andrea) was amazing and it was clear that she cared about the students. All other lecturers were great. Content was interesting and wasn't too difficult. Exam was pretty much identical to the practice exam which made study simple. Overall a fantastic unit.
