Reviews
I enjoyed this unit. I think it was only this year but the mid-semester test covering weeks 1-4 was assessed in week 5! which was stressful and they also did not provide practice tests. Also, David (the lecturer of weeks 1-4 and unit coordinator is very slow to respond to emails and sometimes doesn't respond at all). But thankfully, the mid-semester test reflected the content learnt so there was no surprises. I loved how organised Kelly was (weeks 4-8) – making sure to stop teaching before the recording stopped but I hated the pre-work lecture. Unlike David and Kelly, Phillip (weeks 9-12) relied on flashing slides with completed mechanism so it wasn't interactive except if he called on you to answer a question and he was less organised – he is very nice though. The labs consisted of four performas and their accompanying post-lab quiz. I thought the experiments were unrelated to the lecture content except for one. The TAs don't really go over the performas so you have to do a bit of research yourself to answer the questions. The post-lab quizzes are based on the lab videos and are timed but you have enough time to complete it – easy marks. The end of semester exam also reflected the lecture content well so no surprises again. Overall, an easy pass.
