Reviews

A lot of what is included in this subject will be very applicable in future when reading (or writing) research literature and studies. Unfortunately the subject was very poorly taught with neither lectures or classes contributing to my learning. My advice to future students is to find a good youtube channel such as the khan academy and learn from there. The internet and other sources taught me more than the lecturer ever could.

Speechies don't generally sign up to BHSc/MSpeechPath to become statisticians, but there is some real world applicability to the subject - it can be difficult to see this until you start looking at research literature and start reading it regularly. Lectures can be a bit difficult to follow - try and read over the lecture notes the night before and write out some questions you might ask at the end. Summary notes with step-by-step procedures for working out questions will be your best friend for exam study time. In-lecture exercises, mini-tests and sometimes even prac class notes are an excellent (read: necessary) guide for what will be on the exam - if you can somewhat understand and successfully complete those exercises, you are on your way to doing well very well in the subject.
