It's now 2019 and I completely agree with the two previous reviews from prior years, they are spot on. Unit material is quite dry, Rohan is great, his wit had me in stitches each week. Though some of the concepts we explored are difficult to grasp, if you do the readings and follow the study guide it is an easy distinction subject. The largest grade is weighted towards an essay analyzing the myths in 2001: A Space Odyssey, make of that what you will.

Rohan Bastin is a fantastic lecturer. It can be a bit hard to truly grasp the points this unit raises, but it was really interesting.

I was a little disappointed with this one, it is interesting, but its very much about the theory of myth and the theory of ritual, rather than actually examining a range of myths and ritual, we learn how people analyse them. the readings are fairly dry, the book is pretty hard to get through. but you will learn a lot :) The unit co-ordinator (Rohan Bastin) is a boss.
