the lectures I found really messy with no written content on the slides so was hard to know what was important and had to have notes taken on versus what was just extra information from the lecturers. there were quite a lot of errors and mistakes in the lectures that led to confusion and had to be explained over email. we had an in person lab test that was based on research methods and not social psychology but it wasn't too bad. the exam was multiple choice and short answers. the multiple choice was okay, but I found the short answer section quite hard. I also didn't find it fair that apparently 80% of the exam questions are taken from mandatory textbook readings yet no one had access to the textbook unless we wanted to pay over $150. doesn't seem very fair to me when we're paying for uni to get taught the content but then are expected to teach ourselves with a textbook?

I really liked this unit. I think the structure of the unit seems to have drastically improved compared to other semesters because I found it to be well-organised and easy to navigate. The lecture content was interesting, and I don't think there's too much cognitive load as long as you keep up with weekly lecture content and complementary readings. However, the labs were a bit of a letdown. I stopped going to them at the end of the year because I didn't find them to be that engaging. Assessments include a group presentation that was really quite easy, a lab report that seemed quite fairly marked but maybe a little harsh in some areas, and an exam. Overall, it was an enjoyable unit!

PSYC2212 is a challenging unit. However Nicolas Fay has done a fantastic job at communicating and organising a systematic structure. I was nervous about the exam, but was a few points away from a HD! Very happy with the grade and lecturers. Ignore the cope and seethe reviews, this is good stuff

Do not do this uint, in fact, DO NOT choose any PSYC unit that is organised/taught by Nicolas Fay, he does not know how to organise a unit, and what's the learning agenda of a student. Everything is vaguely instructed, the course has no constructive learning purpose. Especially the assignment is even hard than year 3 PSYC assignments with barely any detailed instruction. Choose at your own risk.

If you don't have a stats background, i would avoid this unit. We had to use SPSS to obtain data for both lab reports and then interpret the findings. Overall, the content is quite interesting.
