Somewhat agree with the review below. Its a very interesting unit and you learn so much. The unit covers a lot of physiology, biochemistry, agricultural aspects of plants. The labs and quizzes are worth 60% while the exam is worth 40%. The content isn't too challenging but there's a lot to cover. Pretty much all lecturers are very passionate about what they teach. The lab assessments (reports and worksheets) require a lot of effort but they are very informative and relevant to the lecture content. I like Kosala and Judith a lot because they are especially kind and their exam questions were really good. The exam preparation was a bit stressful but they provided 3 sample exams which were pretty indicative of the actual exam. There are some dodgy questions but most of them were fine. Overall I found the unit a bit hard but it was designed really well. It is a good core unit or elective if your up for a bit of a challenge and enjoy biology.

Plants in action is such an interesting unit, with fantastic content, but it's really hard. i would not recommend this as an elective unit unless you really like plant physiology because I enjoy it and I still struggled. The exam is 50% of your grade with some assessed labs and reports the other 50%. All the lecturers are pretty good except it felt like Patrick sped through a lot of the physiology stuff, erik talks quite monotonously and quietly and Gary had little to no idea on what he was talking about with the radiation lectures. Expect to spend a lot of time on this unit especially for studying for the exam. Still a good unit though and I learnt alot.
