Rating this unit highly to bump it up - Andrew covered it and I really enjoyed the unit. Much of the content was focused on Plato and the influences of stoic/late antique metaphysics on Christian theology. We covered classical theism, mystical experience. All the readings were stimulating and interesting - it introduced me to Dostoyevsky's philosophy, and motivated me to read Crime and Punishment and begin working through The Brothers Karamazov. My favourite reading was The Logic of Mysticism by Hebert McCabe. I think a lot of the students that took the unit with me really enjoyed it too! Andrew is clearly super knowledgeable and approachable. I also almost wish there was more philosophy of religion available - a second third year unit would be awesome.

Most interesting unit I've taken. Not easy though.

Do not recommend this unit. Overly complicated lectures with harsh marking on both essays and the exam. Ended up getting a D overall, but considering the effort and time it requires, would not recommend.
