Pretty interesting unit! Goes through various body systems, the key diseases associated with them and their pathogenesis (although histology, clinical presentations and complications were also important examinable content). Taught by numerous lecturers who have expertise in the particular systems. This was enriching, but a downside is that the learning outcomes were not cohesive, which made it slightly harder to study. This will hopefully be improved as the unit develops (given this was the first official year it was run). As with other biomed units, it is relatively content heavy and memorisation based. A HD is possible with consistent study AND effort in the written assignments which focus on research paper writing skills. These are broken down into four parts--introduction, methods, results, discussion every three weeks. While tutorial participation is not marked, I recommend attending them, as it helped me complete the assessments easily. The tutorial weeks also cycle through 'bottle tutes' where we write about specimens from the Pathology Museum like a pathologist would, and case study tutes where we look at a particular disease in more depth. Overall, I enjoyed the unit because it built on prior knowledge and also introduced me to diseases I didn't know existed!
