this unit isnt as bad as people say just look at the prac and assignment questions and you will be fine. my friends and i got 90%+ without stressing too much.

This is the worst unit I have ever done, somehow worse than Intro to Engineering. The unit essentially feels useless. None of the dynamics content is really new; you've essentially covered it in Mechanics, except now the questions are harder and aren't explained properly. The lecture slides are useless and are just formulas that the lecturer barely explains. Btw, Quiz 4 will be marked on a rubric that is different to what they give you, and you have to source your own questions. Who knows how that is beneficial to your learning. This unit has the potential to have some really cool labs, but instead you have a lab that requires MatLab which probably 99% of the students have never used before, and the content of the lab is barely relevant to what has been taught so far. This unit is useless; you literally finish all the content in Week 8, and they don't teach content in Week 6, so you have a grand total of 7 Weeks of content where atleast four of them teach nothing new! I do not know how the Unit coordinator hasn't been changed yet; to my knowledge, he has been UC for at least four years, and as you can see from the past reviews, he has yet to get more than one star! This unit is an embarrassment to UWA, and the UC needs to change. Do this unit on exchange if you can, no matter where you go it will be taught better there.

Terrible lecturer who, despite his enthusiasm, is unengaging and difficult to follow. Quizzes throughout semester were a fine assessment for checking in with your progress, but the final quiz may be one of the worst university assessments I have seen. It requires you to scour the textbook and pick your own questions, but they cannot be a question covered during the semester, meaning you need to waste time cross checking EVERY lecture, practical and quiz to ensure your question hasn't been sampled before. Not to mention only 3 students can access the online textbook at a time, meaning most students need to find a pirated copy if they don't have a physical textbook. The lab is meaningless as you don't carry out the experiment and instead rock up just to have the experiment explained to you by a facilitator, when it is already described in the lab report, and then receive the 'data' by email. This is a pointless exercise and defeats the purpose of even having a practical experiment in the first place. The lecture slides are also terrible learning materials and you are better off doing self-learning for covering content outside doing practice problems. A complete waste of a unit, where the quality of teaching and unit structure is borderline so poor, you are better off teaching yourself everything.

Completely unstructured and incredibly hard to follow. Poorly taught practical classes, hardly anyone could follow along with the explanations. There is absolutely nothing helpful supplied in this unit which includes the lectures that feature solutions that are simply read out with no decent explaining.

This unit is horribly taught. No up to date lectures exist. All lectures are provided in pre-recorded format, horribly explained and they are several years old. This makes it difficult to ask questions and some of the content in the pre-recorded lectures is no longer relevant to the unit. Not only are the lectures out of date, they focus on explaining how formulas are derived rather than the actual application of the formulas in practical questions. This was evident as during the fortnightly quizzes the cohort average was sitting below 50% as the questions being examined differ vastly from anything being taught. The final exam is 60% closed book, however consists of only 4 questions and questions are often reused from previous exams.

Poorly taught unit. It feels like there was a lack of effort and thought into constructing this unit. Ming, the prac facilitator, does a poor job going through questions; his working out is sometimes difficult to decipher. This unit is a massive downgrade compared to the engineering mechanics unit.

Confusing, unstructured unit, without any relevance between lectures and assessed questions, making the unit feel pointless. The lecturer covers a tiny portion of the content, generally how to derive the formulas, which isn't relevant to how to use the formulas. Exceptionally stressful due to the lack of cohesion, no past exam questions in preparation and one of the worst units I've been enrolled in.
