If you did chemistry in high school and did well, unit will be a breeze and extremely boring. If not… unit is taught poorly. Practical classes are somewhat useful. Quizzes are what ruin it, 15 minutes for 10 questions that are worded poorly…. Horrible

Good unit but weekly quizzes are a bit confusing and writing lab reports takes a lot of time.

Easy and important but rather uninteresting content. Prior knowledge from Year 11/12 Chemistry was very helpful. Assessments are relatively straightforward if you know your stuff. Practical classes were nightmarishly boring and essentially Coles brand repeats of the lectures but you had to be there to do the quiz at the end. Quizzes and multiple choice exam questions were perhaps the most difficult forms of assessment as they were very ambiguous and it was unclear as to what was being asked. Lecturer moved too slowly through the content and had to cut things out, but was very active in responding to questions. Lab reports are given very stingy page limits so be prepared to spend a ton of time working on them, and then even more time cutting down/reformatting to fit with the page requirement. Don't buy the textbook, you can get by without it and the lecture notes are decent. I wouldn't do this unit unless I had to (which I did) :(

Tricky content but a good teaching team which also responds to emails quickly. Callister textbook is not very useful for this course.

Subject has good content but I found the delivery of lectures is pretty horrible. It was very hard to understand the lecturers accent. You'll be lucky if you get your emails answered in one go, usually you have to keep asking until their team can be bothered to answer. Weekly quizzes have many ambiguous questions, be prepared to be left wondering what they want you to think of the questions. Very poorly run unit, I have only enjoyed the content because of self-study through the Callister textbook. I recommend avoiding this unit if you can.
