Terrible unit, A lot of the content has nothing to do with "defensive" cybersecurity and focuses more on "red teaming" which is the exact oppsosite, the professor could not be bothered teaching the last 2 weeks of content as "I forgot to make the lectures and labs for it" this unit was incomplete and we as students who payed for this course did not receive the full course, we are not taught incident response, reading logs and configuring systems such as firewalls, antiviruses and other defensive systems. The only "defensive" system we learnt was using Yara. The project made no sense and was based off of the Professors research which also makes no sense. It is based off the Moving target defence system which has no applicable use anywhere. The project required us to change the encryption cipher of important files on a system everytime there is a breach to confuse hackers........ this makes no sense and wouldnt confuse hackers. During labs the facilitators leave randomly half way through and dont come back because THEIR schedule doesnt even fit with the unit. They also routinely come 20 minutes late. Even the Professor was late once. The first lab the entire class used chatgpt to write a encryption alg in python which I think is cheating. terrible university.

First sem that this unit is being held and it is by Jin Hong who most comp sci students know as a good UC. The unit grade consists of 3 lab quizzes (20% each) and a group project (40%). The lab quizzes are based on labs and lectures 2 weeks before the quiz and it is in person using ChatGPT consisting of 2 task and peer marking, it is 1 hour each needing you to write code (you have to ChatGPT, I've never seen anyone do it without and finish both task) and write a report based on the questions. Group projects are based on everything you've learned doing it with a group of 5, with 50% from report, 30% individual and 20% from the demo you'll be doing in week 12. One thing I'm not really happy about is the need of the group's average to be around the average mark of the class, forcing you to group with "lazy" or "not as good" students. If you're taking this unit, make friends early or you'll be scrambling for group mates, they're also nice to have so you can discuss labs, teach and learn from each other. One thing I'd also add is if you do have friends in the unit, please don't just ask them for answers or only talk to them when you want them to teach you, at that point you guys are not friends, you're just leeching of them. Overall, nice unit as long as you can ChatGPT well, the group project can vary based on how your groupmates are. Make sure to always do your labs before the lab quiz or else you'll be stuck trying to understand what to do when precious time is being wasted during the quiz
