The War is over. BUT! I’ll give ANHB1101 its flowers: I took this as an elective, and… THE PROPAGANDA IS CORRECT! Easily HD-able, you get all of the marks essentially “here comes the airplane! Mmrrrrrr” spoon-fed right into your mouth. You can essentially go into the exam feeling happy la-la. Just make sure you don’t forget to do the online quizzes and pre-labs on time. PROMISE ME, OKAY? Tutorials are great and SUPER helpful so you better show up to every single one (I’m watching you). But the content. Oh. Please. No more. Spare me, I have a family. Yeah. It’s such a drag. The unit coordinators are really cute and have clearly made this course with the love one would have for their firstborn child. But wow. As a person who did Year 12 Human Biology, I fear some of the content in this unit indeed sucked the life out of me. If you haven’t taken Year 12 Human Biology, then I recommend you take this and LOCK IN (especially if you want to pursue a more medical degree). To add on to that, if you haven’t taken Year 12 Human Biology and you’re taking this unit… I’m so sorry. Embryology and primates will destroy you with no remorse. If you’re thinking about taking this unit as an elective but don’t appreciate human biology, just don’t. But if you have a passion for human biology? Give it a shot! You’ll get your HD, and if you enjoy stuff like this, you will find it to be a breeze, with only a few moments where you regret everything (especially during embryology). But you have to be at least tolerable of human biology to get through a unit like this.

Definitely an achievable HD with some effort - 100% is guaranteed on the online prelabs and tests, and if you participate in tutorials. This leaves you only needing an achievable ~65% in the MCQ exam to get a HD. There is a lot of content (3 lectures pw), however it is mainly memorisation rather than complex concepts, but if you stay on top of it it is manageable and tutorial questions are useful practice. Past exams are provided on the hbiol website although they were a bit easier than the actual exam.

Very well organised, easy quizzes, easy-fair MCQ exam. Requires a good note taking/study system though as there are many details to memorise, but no hard concepts. Fun and useful tutorials too. ʕ•́ᴥ•̀ ʔ

A little content heavy but fairly manageable content. Gives a good base line knowledge for ANHB and other health sciences. Along with ANHB1102 it is the best organised unit I’ve taken thus far and Fiona and Vanessa are excellent UCs. Lots of grade is given away by quizzes you can repeat unlimited times. Tutorials were helpful (shoutout Tom). Exam was fair however the histology questions was killer. No practice exams are given which was a pain. Overall an interesting and well organised unit that isn’t too difficult.

Super easy if you have done HBIO in highschool. Content is taught straight forward and tutorials are super helpful in memorising and understanding the content. The unit gives you an almost guaranteed pass if you do the online tests which can be done repeatedly.

I did this unit as an elective with 0 science atar experience. I found most of the unit was very digestible with a few sticking points that I struggled with. Thankfully the unit gives you 40% of your grade for free without much work. Infinitely repeatable weekly quizzes & tutorials that are engaging & informative. The tutorials help solidify the lecture content & provide useful study tools for your exam. When I did my exam they offered previous years exams as a study guide that gave you a score & helped inform what I needed to focus my study on

Love, love, love! 40% of your grade is given to you. The other 60% is a MCQ exam, which is quite easy if you study the content. There is a lot of content, but that's not uncommon for a human biology unit. I loved the lectures, but they did require a lot of time, effort, and brain power. In terms of intellectual stimulation, I'd recommend this unit. In terms of ease, I'd recommend this unit. Basically, just take this unit! It's great.

Good unit with fun and engaging tutorials. Definitely the most useful tutorials out of the 4 units I have taken so far. Overall, the unit is well organised. 40% of your grade is made up of quizzes with unlimited attempts and tutorial participation, so its basically handed to you. The lecture material can get boring at times and is easy to fall behind on as there is 3 lectures per week, however there are some interesting topics. Would recommend if you're looking to do as an elective.

Don't have access to my old account, and giving a higher rating to try not to make the overall rating more negative. OG review included green slips from sem 1 2023. To clear up the wordy and indirect questions, it's because some of the questions were wordy and some were indirect. I don't recall if any of the questions had both factors at play. Please explain how it's comical. I found it difficult to interpret the questions as a result of this, and am also dyslexic and wasn't diagnosed when I took this unit. Green slips were strange because it was the first time I had encountered it when typically you can show up to a different tutorial for that week without needing a green slip. The tutor would mark you as present on the roll and would do behind the scenes stuff to make sure you didn't loose out on marks. When you have to commute 1hr 30 mins one way, it's an absolute pain to have to go to their office to collect it from them, then travel another 1hr 30 mins back home if you weren't having a tutorial that day. I can't recall if you could pick up the green slip without the unit coordinators handing it to you physically.
