As a current Mathematics Drop-in Centre Tutor at UNSW who has guided over 100+ students through this course, I know that the challenge of MATH1141 lies in its mathematical rigor. It’s not just about calculation; it’s about a deep understanding of logical proofs. My Advice for Students: Prioritize Weekly Quizzes: Many students lose marks on basic algebra and calculus; ensure you secure full marks on these quizzes.Master Maple Labs early: Don't leave these until the last minute; get comfortable with the software interface as soon as possible. Seek Support: If you are struggling with complex limits or abstract proofs, come see me for a session where I can help break down these concepts into manageable steps.

The concepts are of a reasonable demand considering that this course is meant to be a relatively challenging first year math course where doing well means you've kept up to date with all learning content. Though if your learning this online, it does require ample motivation for you to overcome the added boundary of being self motivated to study this course. As for the finals, it's best to revise on the concepts rather than the question types of the exam because after all, the exams aren't regurgitations of course notes (but doing course notes does solidify content understanding).

Very good, mostly same as 31 but later parts of exam are much harder

An essential first course in mathematics, covering all of the fundamentals in calculus and linear algebra, and drilling out the flaws of high school maths with ease. Watch out for the final exam, it might surprise you!

Great first year mathematics course. Covers essential topics at a good level of difficulty.

Solid introductory maths course. Content was similar to HSC 4U in parts

MATH1141 was a good introductory subject for both algebra and calculus. The content is definitely useful and interesting but the online tutorials were tedious at times.

Interesting basic concepts taught, but if not grasped initially it can be a bigger challenge than it should be.

A great challenge for anyone who loves maths.
