Lectures are amazing! Bryony is an incredible lecturer, and I was easily able to follow along. Be sure to keep up with content though, since the final examination is difficult! Compared to other neuro subjects this one is amazing though.

Genuinely an amazing subject all credit given to Bryony the goat. She's super good at teaching and makes this subject so interesting. Going into the subject I thought there was only so much to know about the auditory system, but the way Bryony teaches it makes sure you are engaged throughout the entire subject. MCTs are chill because they are sat at home open book, and the group project is also chill (1 min vid). The exam, however, was a bit tough. While the exam is only mcq and fill in the blank, the mcqs are multi-select answers, which means you have the potential to forfeit marks by selecting the wrong options. The fill in the blanks were also a bit difficult. Saying that, you should definitely attend the tutorials, as she covers a lot of application content in the tutes, which do get tested. Other than that, content is explained really well and Bryony is super supportive and responsive to emails. Definitely do this subject you will not regret it.

Score: 90+. TAKE THIS SUBJECT. If you are debating taking this one or developmental neuro, TRUST ME AND TAKE AUDITORY NEUROSCIENCE. The subject is actually interesting, the teacher is super passionate!!! And H1 is basically secured. I’ll give some tips on how to do well. MCTs (online, timed but the timing is alright not rushed): 1st MCT is really easy, MCT2-4 are harder. Make sure to listen carefully to what the lecturer says because some details that aren’t written in slides are tested e.g how DPOAEs are 10-30dB etc. The lectures about cochlear implant are sooo dry…Bryony’s lectures are so much better. But cochlear implant is tested a lot. In the exam, there was a question asking about how cochlear implants’ loudness can be changed fill in the blank, so you should definitely know the intricacies. Bryant attached a summary of the cochlear implant lectures. I recommend reading through it very carefully since even one word could be changed in the exam. The exam is multiple choice or fill in the blank, but what makes the multiple choice hard is that it doesn’t tell you how many options are right. And there’s lots of trick options. If I had to study this subject again, I would definitely pay more attention to exact things the lecturer says that isn’t written in slides, as well as how to interpret ABR and DPOAE/TOAEs graphs, since I don’t remember this was explicitly taught yet it was tested. Also, make sure you understand the tutorial pathologies and what symptoms align with what pathology. The group assignment is really fun and chill and easy - just a 1 min advertisement and you get a large group so it’s chill. If you don’t have a group you get allocated to one so don’t worry if you have no friends in this subject. The ‘lab work’ is just fill in the blank or MCQ but it’s a just watching some videos on Acland and then writing in what was said in the video so super easy to get full marks, and you can cross check with your group assignment team. Also, the practice question difficulty for the exam is easier than the actual exam LOL. And the MCT practice ones are slightly easier than actual MCTs. Hopefully this helps and best of luck!!

This is genuinely the best subject in all of unimelb. Bryony is the best lecturer ever and is so incredibly passionate, knowledgeable, and fun!! She truly wants each student to do well and goes above and beyond to make sure everyone feels understood and cared for. The content in the lectures is really interesting and easy to understand. The subject is organised extremely well, and the assignments are very clearly explained. Doing well in this subject is super easy. The multiple choice tests are free marks since its open book, and the group project is barely challenging (its actually fun). What's also really amazing is that Bryony actively responds to the Ed Discussion and frequently puts out announcements to keep you updated and informed. Overall, you should do this subject even if you don't care much for neuroscience. I am an anatomy major and this was by far the best subject of my undergrad. WOULD RECOMMEND!!!

This is a relatively new subject but honestly out of my 3 years of undergrad, one of the most organised subjects I've taken. Bryony is genuinely passionate about the content and you can tell she's put a lot of effort into making it a good experience for students. There are 4 quizzes throughout the semester which keep you up to date with the material. The research lectures are interesting and it's a great opportunity to know what's actually happening in the field. 100% recommend, especially if majoring in neuroscience :)

The main lecturer was awesome and the subject should be pretty straightforward if you have done the principles of neuroscience subject well.
