I really enjoyed this subject! Whilst the lectures can feel a little long, the readings are genuinely interesting and the tutes were absolutely fantasic (shout out to Anna for being the best). I think this subject is super important to take as it helps us understand how widespread indigenous racism is in this country!

Not going to lie, the lectures are amazing! However, the tutor is kind of mean and it is very hard to engage during the tutorial. You will be forced to speak. If you do not have any prior knowledge about Indigenous politics or history, DO NOT take this subject. Teaching staffs, esp the tutor (Natalie) assumed everyone to know about everything. It is not an easy subject as well. Hard to get H1 or even H2A.

Sarah Maddison was excellent. The lectures were always so engaging, including the guest lecturers. Highly encourage all settler Australians to take the subject. The content was refreshing and challenging (in the best way). I have only 2 notes, the blog assessment was a pain (although it did make us engage in contemporary Indigenous politics), and the tutor was intimidating. Overall, really loved it!

Not going to lie, the lectures are pretty boring. It is almost like a simple history lesson on what happened to Indigenous people since colonization, without any central focus. Hence, identifying what interests you in this broad subject outline is important. Fortunately, my tutor was great (Lachlan) He is one of the most intelligent and engaging tutor that you will find at unimelb. If he is still tutoring this subject then disregard what I said earlier and enroll in this subject. (enroll first to check) You will find tutorials more helpful and informative than lectures, and "he will make this subject interesting". What interests me in this subject is Indigenous identity politics and the nuances of the Native title Act. Those are the highlights in this subject in my opinion. My score: 87.
