this was my first japanese subject coming out of vce, was a massive and shocking jump for me for the first couple of weeks with the pure amount of japanese instruction i was recieving. though depending on the sensei some would teach in mainly english, some in mainly japanese which... confusing. wow there's a lot of assessments. 5 quizzes, 2 orals, an essay and an exam. the upside i suppose is that for the non-exam assessments since they contribute such a smaller percentage you feel less pressure. the exam is 50% though. the seminars dragged and drained me of all my life force.. 2hrs two times a week but it felt like longer than that. the worksheets you have to complete before the seminars seem easy and simple, but when you get to the tough part of the semester i was going through it just trying to get them done. yet overall i actually don't know how they could make it better i think language subjects are just inherently like this. thankfully the textbook (tobira) was really helpful and was the main thing i relied on, i recommend buying the physical copy if you're into that. also making friends will make or break your experience, one of the orals you need to partner up and in every seminar you're doing group discussions. you cannot be socially isolated in this class, which i actually think is a good thing. overall if you keep up with the content and push through its actually not the hardest subject in the world and i somehow did way better in it despite feeling behind the rest of the class all year. for reference, i got a 36 in vce japanese sl and i got an 85 in this subject. but i'm still jealous of those who started with japanese 3....

Overall well taught although I feel like the pace of the lecture was kind of slow
