I give this subject three stars, but it's a high three. I found the content quite interesting, and David is an engaging lecturer, although there is an issue with the way the lectures are done. IMO, this subject has two issues which drag it down a bit. Like many other earth science subjects for some reason, the practical are a bit half-assed with little guidance although the tutor was generous in helping us. Like the other review said, for the main assignment you have to use data you did from the practicals but you don't know if the data is correct or not. For this reason, I relied heavily on the theory to do the assignment as the data you got/they obtained isn't that reliable or enough to do what they're asking. The way the lectures were run I found they were a bit sparse in terms of explaining the content, as though he was having a casual conversation, so I had to use the textbook a bit. For the final exam, half the questions were exactly the same as the ones on the practice exam lol. Overall, the subject was interesting to learn about and not too difficult, but lacked a bit in how it was run.

Overall I found the subject interesting but poorly run. I definitely believe that the content was pretty fun and engaging (who doesn't love beaches) and the content wasn't complicated nor did it required a lot of thought. However, the subject was really poorly run, for example, throughout the semester we did 3 assessed pracs, however, the grades where released a day before the exam (like really wtf). What is worse is that guy said he would release them before exams, but a day before seems really token and seems like he left it to the last minute. The wording on the assessed pracs was also just awful, to the point that some questions where unanswerable. We also had to use information created on the assessed prac for the assessed field report, which given that there we didn't even know we where correct (remember no marks or feedback on assessed pracs until a day before the exam and the wording was crap) meant that we could have unknowingly made a mistake and fucked up our report. There was also a field trip, which I couldn't go on, however, the lecturer didn't even stress it nor was it required attendance so what is the point. I really wanted to love this subject but it was not run well.

An interesting, well-taught subject. As I had no background in geomorphology, I relied on textbooks a little more than others probably would, although nothing was too challenging. Unfortunately our field trip was cancelled, but, although we didn't collect data ourselves, we were able to analyse other data and write our reports. The exam was straightforward.

This subject is really interesting, the field trip is awesome ! and you'll have heaps of fun. The assignment is a bit tricky at the end of semester, I found it hard to get started. But I would recommend taking this subject regardless !
