NOTE: The GEND20008 subject is now "Feminist Futures", not "Sex and Gender Present and Future" as listed above. This was an incredibly interesting subject, with a few caveats. The lectures are excellent, very informative and well-paced, and all the faculty are clearly very passionate and knowledgeable. The one thing that might trip people up is that this subject is heavily focused on manifestos, and so puts more emphasis on your emotional responses to the readings than other, more academic subjects. Given the more personal aspect, the tutorials make an obvious effort to strike a balance between discussing the material and making sure that people are comfortable. I found that this sometimes got in the way of an interesting discussion, but I also recognise that one person's "interesting discussion" can be another's "intensely upsetting experience". So, again, just something to be aware of before going into this subject. Absolutely recommend it, though - super interesting topics.

Super interesting content. Loved it lots but the first assignment was a reflective essay and we didn't get much information on the way they wanted us to write it. In general the assignments felt more difficult - you could write at a standard that would be H1 or H2A in another Arts subject, but only get an H2B.
