Following a year long hiatus from French and my unexpected setback with my core subject MCB, coupled with three chemistry subjects & HSF (please refer to my other reviews) in 2023, I summoned the courage to recommit to further studies in French. Lucie was by far the BEST tutor to date! She just explained everything so well. Be prepared to do some preliminary preparation over the break. Grammar gets challenging. You obviously review PC, Imparfait, COD, COI, en & y. I finally got the hang of those persnickety pronouns after completing some supplementary exercises over the break. You then begin an introduction to using the passive voice, further future simple & present subjective. French subjunctive can be difficult (German flashback nightmares!) but is okay with some practice. Additional pronouns in the form of lequel & Celui are also introduced. The only "boring" part of this subject was the film Molière. I got lost but still persisted. Tip- do well with the two tests. Your grade from them provides a buffer for an oral & video presentation. Most students this year did reasonably well. The final exam was difficult, for me at least. I barely passed it. You had to write two composition pieces, one of which was on the Moliere film. I completely just waffled & blew my marks. Still did better than French 2. Am motivated to do both French 4 & French Translation this coming semester 2. My passion for French is well & truly back. Final result was 63 Pass.
