Reviews

I would definitely recommend this subject to anyone who likes film. The time commitment is less than most subjects. The online tutorials are a bit strange and you will mostly find that you are just sitting there doing nothing for most of the time until the one moment you are called on, but good and interesting discussions can definitely be had with the tutors. The work received each week is usually quite easy, and sometimes includes watching movies. The weekly blog entries can feel difficult at first, but they are definitely a useful tool for getting feedback on the final assessment. The final assessment (short screenplay) was interesting and not too difficult as we were taken thoroughly through the whole process in the previous weeks. The rest of the marks for the subject were easy to get. If you do all the work it should be a fun and easy H1.

The online delivery of the subject was inconvenient and would have been so much better as a real tutorial. My tutorial group also struggled with uploading our presentations as we could not upload them through Google Drive and instead had to create Vimeo accounts. HOWEVER, this subject was an easy H1 and a lot of fun. The fortnightly blog posts were a nice way to boost your mark. The presentation was a fun assignment because we did not have to present live (due to it being an online course) and we were able to choose a film that we knew a lot about. The final screenplay assignment was the best part of the course, as we had been building our characters and plots throughout the entire semester and it was a chance to be creative.
