Very good subject if you enjoy art and you are willing to invest time and energy into it. This subject has made me improve so much in painting and I'm sure it will for everybody. Ann was incredible with feedback and was really clear in what she wanted to see and how to improve. The marking for the visual diary was not harsh as long as you show improvement and effort, and annotate/reflect. The essay was a little useless and did not really help me improve anything but it shouldn't be too hard. It was a little confusing in what they were looking exactly for at first but it didn't take too long to complete. It does take time to complete the paintings, especially when it is closer towards exam times. However, the subject being online really helped with time and usually you only spend about an hour in the actual zoom call instead of the 3 shown in your timetable, and you can complete the work whenever you're free. I think it was a really positive experience and I'm happy I took this subject!

Loved this subject! Despite being run online, the subject was extremely fun and engaging. The tutors were amazing in that they provided us with weekly feedback and were extremely helpful during the zoom tutorials in answering questions. The tutors made checklists for us and had ample examples to show us that made the expectations of this subject very clear. Each week we focused on a new technique of type of still life painting, and every week's painting task was just as fun as the next. High H1's are achievable in this subject if you remember to stay on top of your work and annotate, experiment and reflect as much as you can during every task. I think during my time at uni this has by far been one of my favourite subjects. I improved so much in terms of painting and the lectures and essay that had to be completed during this subject helped me expand my art knowledge.
