This is probably the best and my favourite subject I've chosen so far in my undergrad. I'm an arts student, and I personally feel really lucky that this is considered a discipline subject. First of all, the coordinator/tutor, Michael, is absolutely phenomenal. He's amiable, student-oriented and very easy to talk to. Genuinely, he made this class so much fun and that's just because he himself cares and is interested in it so much. If there's one subject you should do for an amazing student experience, it's this one. As someone who wanted to learn more about coding/programming - this IS the subject. It teaches you the python programming language from the ground up in an approachable and comprehensive way. There's biweekly quizzes with whatever methods you learn in the last two weeks that let you use your knowledge to complete. The fact that it's a very tactile and practical subject is what I like the most - I really appreciate that there was an emphasis on actually learning How To code, rather than what code is etc etc. There are only a few readings, just for context and later lab exercise question stuff. The assignments were pretty straightforward: the first is a proposal for a later digital project. The second is programming the digital project itself. This is only the second year the subject has ran apparently, but it's actually unbelievable how dedicated and practical this course is for later application in personal projects or even paid work. Only qualm: I didn't really connect with any other students in the subject. Maybe that's because it's a very individual-oriented subject, but unless you initate conversation with someone or you're doing it with a friend, it's entirely possible that you do this subject without communication with another student. Hope this helps!! Definitely do this subject if you're stuck for an arts discipline or want a fun breadth :)
