I really enjoyed the technical aspect of this subject and it was great to have a clear cut straightforward subject when H1s/high marks are achievable. My most influential learning this semester will definitely come from this subject and I found the assignments engaging and informative, however there is a lot of work. A lot of the theory from this subject comes from online modules which you watch and take notes on, do NOT skip this part as these are your exam notes which is all multiple choice questions related to the lectures and theory. Make sure to stay updated weekly with the Elearning, lectures and assignments (work on them progressively you CANNOT cram this subject) and you’ll be fine! The teaching staff did a commendable job with the online difficulties and the subject functioned fantastically online. Studios were relevant and helpful however you do get a caning if you don’t do your work so make sure to always bring something even if it’s only sketches.

Finally, a proper architecture subject! This subject was genuinely interesting as you begin to understand how to build and design real practical structures. You are taught about materials and how they are used in real life and how they react over time and within the structure. You are taught how to draw proper plans and elevation with correct conventions. Tutorials are NOT a waste of time as you are actually taught new skills and tutors engage in your education (as opposed to most design subjects @ unimelb). Unfortunately, (the majority of students) during this time are also studying a studio subject that takes away all of your time from this subjects which makes it difficult to fully immerse in it. For this reason it is a struggle to keep up with the content and work which are tested weekly with mini quizzes that contribute to final mark.

This subject was so poorly coordinated and lacked any good structure or guidelines for students. Was a complete mess and left students confused/lost/in need of extra help or time to meet deadlines and to understand the content that was provided through "eLearning". Make a lot of friends in this class so you can harass each other with questions because this subject is so hard to tackle if you're on your own.
