Reviews

Content was interesting and quite easy to absorb. Ian was a great lecturer - engaging, responsive, passionate and knowledgeable. Mid semester test and the exam consisted of mainly scenario-based questions, but they were not overly challenging. Most of the practicals were well organised, only one, which has a assessed report associated with it, felt a little messy and rushed - this was on contract tracing and is held later in the semester. Overall, really enjoyed this subject!

Lecture content was quite easy and very interesting. A lot of broad topics were discussed and you are not expected to know each in a lot of detail, you are assessed more on your ability to apply the knowledge to possible animal management scenarios. The pracs were very engaging, even when done online, and the lab reports were marked very fair. The second lab report is a challenging write up and I'd suggest you start early on it. One issue was some people seemed to get more feedback than others on the first lab report, however this was resolved if you requested more feedback and it was given in a timely manner. The MST and exam were both quite easy. The MST was 10 MCQ and the exam is several long answer questions. H1 is very achievable with not too much effort, especially if you find the content interesting.
