I was genuinely disappointed with this class, especially as I had been so excited to take it. While the on-campus teacher was genuinely amazing and provided great support, the online support was extremely disappointing. Responses were not simply blunt or unhelpful, but often came across as unnecessarily rude and dismissive. At the beginning of the trimester, several international students expressed concerns about the difficulty of the course and requested additional resources, including more than a single sheet of paper for their cheat sheet. These concerns were largely dismissed, with students being told to study harder or use an AI agent. I find this particularly disappointing, as students should not be expected to rely on AI, especially when they have personal or ethical objections to using it. There also seemed to be very little consideration for the fact that many students undertaking this course were simultaneously completing placements, adding significant stress and pressure to an already demanding workload. Overall, I would not recommend this class in its current form. It is frustrating that a course made mandatory for students does not appear to adequately consider the workload, circumstances and concerns of those required to complete it. Students deserve accessible resources, respectful communication and a reasonable level of support, particularly when balancing their studies with placement commitments.
