UniMelb Health Tutor Eric
⭐️ About me ⭐️
I am Eric Qin, I graduated from UNSW's BVisSci program with a 6.95GPA, and am currently studying Doctor of Medicine at UniMelb. I have experienced and marked for numerous types of interviews, and have had experience in both panel and MMI medical interviews:
(UNSW, Monash, Bond, WSU, CSU, UoN/JMP, UNDS, UniMelb, ANU)
My teaching style is more concept-based than theory or application, as I believe having a strong understanding of base concept facilitates learning and the bridge between theory and practice. This reduces the need for pointless memorisation, alleviates stress and improves retention. It's with this that many of my HSC students were able to achieve high marks, and also enter medicine.
I have been tutoring since 2022, and have been hired by UNSW to teach optics in 2025, with numerous students achieving a top 10 mark across two optics courses.
I have limited spots due to my NSW students, and so I am currently not offering high school tutoring.
⭐️ Medical Interviews ⭐️
I offer tutoring for medical interviews for two main question styles, and teach 2 main answering techniques. I offer interview preparation for both undergraduate and postgraduate medicine, with majority of my successful students being high school leavers.
🌑 Styles 🌑
- Panel style (i.e. UNSW) will ask more straightforward questions, testing individual qualities and traits, such as personal interests, extracurricular involvement, attachment to community and family. This style is more prevalent in undergraduate medical interviews.
- MMI style (i.e. UniMelb) will ask more scenario based questions, testing ethics, public health, systemic discrimination, teamwork. This style is more prevalent in postgraduate medical interviews.
- The style I teach depends on student preference and university.
🌑 Techniques 🌑
Picking the right technique for different questions can be a skill, and the articulation needed for different styles drastically deviate.
- Emotional. Suitable for many panel-style questions, or MMI role-play questions. Necessary to show the human aspect, and articulation is facilitated by soft facial expression, gentle tone, slow movements.
- Pedantic. Suitable for many conflict-style MMI questions, or suggestion-style MMI questions. Necessary to show the innovative aspect, facilitated by a more serious tone, and sharp non-verbal language.

🌑 Resources and Rates 🌑
- Numerous interview resources from numerous interview tuitions
- All mocks are made by hand, and not assisted by AI
- I always offer a 30 minute trial
- Otherwise, interview theory consultation = $150/h
- 1 Mock + Feedback Session (2 hours) = $175
- 2 Mocks + Feedback Session = $340
- 3 Mocks + Feedback Session = $490
⭐️ GAMSAT S3 ⭐️
I got a 99%ile GAMSAT in the 2/3 times I had sat the GAMSAT.
S3 --> 84 to 87 to 91
- S3 tests skills mainly related to anatomy, chemistry, biochemistry, physiology, physics and logical reasoning.
- The two main approaches: Conceptual and Comprehension.
🌑 Approaches 🌑
- Conceptual: Learning the high yield topics that will be covered in GAMSAT S3. This includes anatomy and physiology of the visual, cardiovascular, respiratory system, and learning stoichiometry, organic chemistry and heat of reactions.
- Comprehension: The truth is, GAMSAT does not require the concepts. Being able to interpret and connect different parts of the question and stem together is all that is actually needed to solve a question.
- In reality, both are necessary, and I aim to train both.
🌑 Resources and Rates 🌑
- I have done numerous courses in my BVisSci that contain highly relevant content which have facilitated my capacity to achieve high S3 marks.
- In addition, I contain numerous GAMSAT S3 (and S1 + S2) resources which can facilitate study.
- I always offer a 30 minute trial
- 1 lesson is $120/h
