Hi, I’m Dr Ari.
I’m a clinical university educator and cognitive neuroscientist with a PhD in Psychology (2018) and a Bachelor Medical Sciences (2011), with more than 15 years’ experience in higher education. I am a S1/S2 GAMSAT tutor, have been a board interviewer on MED interview panels for multiple universities and have assisted countless students achieve entry into Medicine.
I’ve worked as a university lecturer, unit coordinator and academic across undergraduate programs, teaching students from first year through to advanced study. I’ve designed and coordinated university units, developed assessments and marking guides, delivered lectures, and marked countless assignments, so I understand not only what students need to know, but what university markers are actually looking for in a high-quality assessment.
Over the past 15+ years, I’ve helped countless students develop the confidence, skills and understanding they need to achieve their academic goals. My approach is supportive, practical and evidence-informed, with a strong focus on helping students become better, more independent learners.
I can help with:
- Understanding difficult university content and concepts
- Structuring and improving essays, lab reports and research assignments
- Understanding assessment criteria and marking rubrics
- Detailed feedback on assessment drafts
- Developing stronger academic writing and argumentation
- Critical thinking, analysis and evaluation
- Research skills and finding and using academic literature
- Understanding research methods and interpreting research findings
- Psychology, neuroscience, allied health, education and biomedical science subjects
- Exam preparation and study strategies
- Honours, postgraduate (PhD and Masters theses) and research project support
- Academic confidence and transitioning to university study
- Connecting you with relevant industry professionals in careers you aspire to have
- Supporting your job applications as an academic reference
- GAMSAT Prep (Section 1 and 2)
Because I’ve designed assessments and marking criteria myself, I can help you look at an assignment from the perspective of the person who will ultimately be marking it. while still helping you develop the skills to produce the work yourself.
My goal is to help you understand how to approach university work, think critically, write effectively and become a more confident, independent student. Helping you build the knowledge, skills and confidence that will take you closer to the career you aspire to pursue.
I tutor online via Microsoft Teams / Zoom / Google Meet and provide personalised feedback on drafts.
If you’re looking for an experienced academic who understands both sides of the university assessment process, feel free to get in touch. I’d be happy to have a chat about how I can help.
