USYD Science Tutor Priya

Hello, my name is Priya and I am a third-year medical student at the University of Melbourne. I tutor Section 2 GAMSAT and MMI Preparation online and in Inner-North Melbourne. I have a science background but managed to get very strong Section 2 scores in the two GAMSATs I sat - scoring 78 and 82 - which helped me to receive CSP offers at the University of Sydney and University of Melbourne I know that for a lot of science students, the idea of writing two essays (and fast!) is incredibly daunting. However, Section 2 is perhaps the easiest one to improve in, and well-worth it given the trend of some universities weighing the humanities more strongly. My section 2 methodology is based on my belief that a good essay looks different for everyone, and that every individual has their own values and interests which will allow them to write passionate and interesting essays, regardless of their formal writing experience. There are many aspects to writing a good essay, and together we can identify which of these are most useful for you to work on - eg. Idea development, form and expression, writing under time pressure. I know the importance of having tutoring tailored to what works for you as a student, and with this in mind I have many different strategies that we can use to address various weaknesses in essay-writing. I offer a free 15 minute consultation session when you sign up to tutor for me, where we can discuss our shared vision of what tutoring together can look like, and make sure that we are the right fit. I also tutor MMI preparation - I did extensive preparation for my MMI and managed to get into my top-choice university. Despite the strangeness of the format, I think there are great ways to maximise your interview performance and showcase your suitability to the course and career.
