GAMSAT Section II & MMI tutoring for 2027 entry Melb Uni 3rd Year Medicine, CSP S2: 86, 100th percentile I'm Mario, a third year medical student at the University of Melbourne (CSP). I have 9 years overall tutoring experience across multiple high-school and university subjects. I scored an 86 in Section II of the GAMSAT placing me in the 100th percentile. My approach is simple, consisting of (1) reading your work to assess your overall strengths and weakness, then building your ability to structure and format ideas in a way tailored to the Section II format (I have a specific overall framework for approaching all section II prompts); and, (2) guiding you towards developing simple yet creative responses by focusing on the integration of political, philosophical and historical examples into a balanced and sophisticated argument. I believe that my undergraduate in Politics, Philosophy and Economics alongside English Literature (where I was the DUX for multiple final year university courses) uniquely positions to be helpful in this regard. With an open mind and easy going attitude, I genuinely believe most students can craft solid section II essays. As cliched as it is to say, I reckon the most significant impediment faced by most is feeling overwhelmed by the breadth of the prompts and subsequent writer's block. Regarding the MMI: in my experience, the MMI is the easiest section of the medical entry process to do well in. I don't advocate for hundreds of hours of preparation for it and would consider anything over the order of tens of hours excessive. Truth be told, I believe many people would get through with even a day's preparation (though this isn't exactly conducive to tutoring business). Answers to questions don't need to be outstanding or complicated, but rather balanced, simple and clear. I have heaps of practice questions we can work on together and I'll give you direct and constructive feedback, alongside overall strategies for how to answer questions. If I feel you've got the gist of it and would do well, regardless of how early into the process, I'll let you know rather than pointlessly charging and wasting your time. A little bit about me: I completed my undergraduate at the Australian National University, a double degree in Arts (Psychology and English Literature) and Philosophy, Politics and Economics. In my spare time, I taught myself the sciences required to sit the GAMSAT. I have always loved reading and writing and enjoy reading broadly (fiction, critical theory, history, etc.) and love spending time with friends camping, playing chess and enjoying a glass of wine on the weekend. During the week I enjoy swimming, running and going to the gym, as well as enjoying the sun when Melbourne weather permits. I'm a laid back and easy going person so don't hesitate to contact me for a free 30-minute session if you think I could help out. I also live in Carlton/Parkville area and am happy to meet for sessions in person if preferred (I drive, so anywhere near the city and northside is accessible for me)
