✳️ About Me:
I have 12 years experience as a tutor, including 6 years working as a Mathematics 2IC at tutoring centre (NumberWorks’nWords), study leader at the University of the Sunshine Coast, tutoring marker at Kumon Australia, mentor for the Search for the Next Tech Girl Superhero and mentor for new students at the University of Queensland. In 2016, I graduated from High School with an ATAR of 97.60. In 2020, I graduated from the University of the Sunshine Coast with a Bachelor of Creative Industries (GPA 6.63). I have now returned to uni for a second time and am currently studying a Bachelor of Mathematics / Engineering (Honours) at the University of Queensland.
✳️ Cost:
Some of my group sessions are now offered by donation - last year nearly all of my individual sessions were booked out, so rather than increasing the price significantly for students, this year I have decided to launch group workshops by donations with the intention of making tutoring affordable and accessible to all students - there is now more availability for students to attend and parents can pay what they can afford. My intention is that it will allow students to get the help they need and continue with tutoring over the long term. (Primary - Year 10 Group Workshops are run by donation).
✳️About the workshops:
Maths tutoring workshops will focus on building core maths skills aligned with the Australian Curriculum. Topics from the current year level (or extension topics) will be presented in an engaging and fun manner with a focus on understanding ‘how’ and ‘why’ the maths works. Multiple strategies for solving the question will be explained, so that students have the opportunity to pick the method that works best for them. All topics can be directly applied to what the student is learning in the classroom, and students are welcome to bring tricky questions from school to the sessions. There are often much simpler ways of solving a question, and topics will be broken down in a straightforward manner. Students regularly provide feedback that sessions are fun and they are enthusiastic about continuing – often they are surprised that maths sessions can be enjoyable. Exam prep strategies and essential skills needed to succeed in exams will also be discussed, as well as addressing common challenge areas for students during exams.
