History & Arts Essay Feedback | Former University Tutor & Marker | $70/hr --- Hi, I’m Adam. I’m a former university tutor and marker specialising in detailed essay feedback for History and Arts students. I have a 90 WAM research master’s from the University of Melbourne, a 94 Honours WAM, and experience teaching, marking and reviewing more than 200 university essays. I help students strengthen their thesis, structure, analysis, use of evidence and academic expression. My service is particularly suited to students currently receiving H2A results who want to understand what is preventing their work from reaching a consistent H1 standard. You send me your draft, question, rubric and previous feedback. I return the document with tracked changes and detailed comments, with an optional Zoom session to discuss the revisions. I do not write assessed work for students. I show you how to improve your own argument and writing. HOW MY FEEDBACK WORKS The way I usually work is simple: You send me your essay question, draft, rubric or marking criteria, due date, and any previous feedback you have received. I read the draft closely and provide comments and tracked changes. I send the document back to you with practical suggestions for revision. If there are specific issues you would like to discuss, such as essay structure, marker feedback or how to approach a question, we can schedule a Zoom or Google Meet call. I usually work online rather than in person, because essay feedback is most effective when I can go through the document carefully and leave detailed comments. MY BACKGROUND I have a strong academic background in History, Music History and the humanities. I completed a Master of Music by research at the University of Melbourne with a 90 WAM, and Honours with a 94 WAM. I have taught and marked undergraduate work, helped more than 50 students, and reviewed more than 200 essays. I have also published peer-reviewed academic writing and received major academic recognition, including a Global Undergraduate Award. This means I understand both sides of the process: what students are trying to say, and what markers are often looking for. MARKS AND EXPECTATIONS I should note that I cannot guarantee particular marks. Final results depend on the essay, the marker, the subject, the rubric and how you revise the work after receiving feedback. What I can do is help you strengthen the essay as much as possible by identifying weaknesses in argument, structure, evidence, clarity and expression. RATE My rate is $70 per hour. Before beginning, I can usually give you an estimate of how long a draft review is likely to take. Shorter essays may only need a light review, while longer or more complex essays may take more time.
