(H1) CHEM20020 Notes with plenty of worked examples, coloured diagrams and key formulae
Subject notes for UniMelb CHEM20020
Description
These are the notes I made and used each week to help with tutorials, practice questions, exam revision and eventual practice exams. They helped me score highly on the topic quizzes and in the final exam (which was an 80%-er!). These notes helped me get 100% in the quantum section of the exam (which many students struggled with), and achieve an overall H1 for the subject. THIS IS PART 2 OF THE NOTES, as student VIP has an upload limit and I had 80 pages. These are Weeks 8-12 Notes. I have made every effort to make these notes both as detailed and reader-friendly as possible! I have many many worked examples which helped me to learn and revise as effectively as possible. These notes cover: 5. Metal bonding in complexes, including reactions and chemistry, and CFSE & LFSE theories. 6. Dewar–Chatt–Duncanson model, organometallics and complex chemistry, synthesis of metal carbonates and phosphines. 7. Reactions of Organometallics 8. Molecular energy levels, quantum modelling through harmonic oscillators (including zpe) and the particle in a box model. 9. Vibrations of polyatomic molecules and spectroscopy 10. Momentum and energy levels of complex molecules, spin, angular momentum (all explained super clearly, as I never did physics) 11. Quantisation of energy levels, Hückel Approximation and Slater Determinants (again, everything has many worked examples) 12. Basics of Photochemistry
