Medicine Core Conditions 1 Pagers
Subject notes for UWA IMED4222
Description
This is a comprehensive document of 120 "core conditions" to get through medical school. Each condition is summarised with key information onto 1 page to keep it simple, whilst still having a lot of detail on pathophysiology, patient presentation, investigations, and management where relevant for each condition. I have found these notes especially helpful to refer to for exams and also on placement. I have made these notes by combining and summarising a number of anatomy, physiology and pathology lectures plus information from ClinicalKey onto each 1 pager. Conditions included: 3+ conditions (know in detail): CVS: * Chest pain * Circulatory shock/hypotension * Collapse - Syncope * Heart failure * Hypertension * Ischaemic heart disease/coronary artery disease Haematology: * Anaemia GIT: * Colorectal cancer * Constipation * Diarrhoea * Dyslipidaemia * Gallbladder and biliary diseases * GORD * Jaundice * Rectal bleeding * Post-op complications Respiratory: * Asthma * COPD * Lung cancer * Pneumonia * Pulmonary embolismn * Respiratory failure Immunology: * Anaphylaxis Reproductive system: * Breast cancer Urogenital sytem: * Chronic kidney disease (CKD) * Continence * Haematuria * Hyponatraemia * Prostate cancer and BPH * UTI Dermatology: * Skin cancer Psychiatry: * Anxiety disorders * Mood/affective disorders * Personality disorders * Psych drugs summary * Schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders * Self harm and suicidality * Substance use disorders Neurology: * Delirium * Dementia * Falls - Non syncopal * Geriatric assessment * Headache * Meningitis * Paraesthesia * Seizure disorders * Stroke * TBI ENT: * Hearing loss Endocrinology: * Diabetes mellitus Musculoskeletal: * Back pain * Gout * Osteoarthritis * Osteoporosis 2+ conditions: GIT: * Acute hepatitis * Alcoholic liver disease * Antibiotic associated diarrhoea * Appendicitis * Ascending cholangitis * Chronic hepatitis * Cirrhosis, encephalopathy and hepatorenal syndrome * Coeliac disease * Diverticular disease * Dysphagia * Hernias * IBD * Ischaemic colitis * Large bowel obstruction * Liver tumours and liver mets * Pancreatitis * Peptic ulcer disease * Peri-anal disease * Peritonitis * Small bowel obstruction Immunology: * Sepsis Respiratory: * Acute bronchitis * Bronchiectasis * Interstitial lung disease * Obstructive sleep apnoea * Pleural effusion * Pneumothorax Urogenital: * Acute kidney injury * Epididymo-orchitis * Testicular torsion * Urinary retention Psychiatry: * Eating disorders Musculoskeletal: * Bone and joint infections * Common soft tissue disorders * Rheumatoid arthritis Reproductive system: * Mastitis/breast abscess CVS: * Acute pulmonary oedema * Aortic disease * Arrythmias * Cardiac arrest * DVT * Heart valve disease * Infective endocarditis * Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) Endocrinology: * Diabetic ketoacidosis * Hyperthyroidism * Hypo and hyperglycaemia * Hypothyroidism Neurology: * Cauda equina syndrome * Parkinson's disease * Vision impairment Dermatology: * Ulcers 1+ conditions: Endocrinology: * Hyperparathyroidism, calcium, phosphate & magnesium * Thyroid neoplasia GIT: * Barrett oesophagus Musculoskeletal: * Axial spondyloarthritis * Haemarthrosis * Myositis * Peripheral spondyloarthritis * Scleroderma * Sjogren's syndrome * SLE * Vasculitis Urogenital: * Glomerulonephritis * Tubulo-interstitial disease * Vascular kidney disease 3+ conditions are most important to know in detail, 1+ conditions are less important and have less detail. This document has been a labour of love over the past 2 years. Using these notes has averaged me 85%. I hope they'll be able to help you out too.
