Description

These are complete notes for criminal law that allowed me to obtain a distinction grade. It includes: 1. Full notes --> full, unedited notes. 2. Summary --> all the necessary information needed for the exam is summarised. This makes it easier to study and to flick through during the open-book exam. The summary is done like a flowchart, to guide you through each step of the problem question easily. See the preview for an example. The notes have been complied using lecture slides, attending tutorials, reading the textbook (both the prescribed ones and I also used the Penny Crofts summary book) and my own independent research/others' notes. Topics included: all topics included in the full notes except notes for sexual offences: there are some notes in the summary but this was omitted as no question could be asked on it in the final exam. The topics are listed as per below: - Crime, law and morality - The scope and principles of criminal law - The elements of criminal offences - Homicide I: murder - Homicide II: unlawful and dangerous act manslaughter; gross negligence manslaughter - Assault offences: common assault and compound and aggravated assaults + wounding offence - Larceny - Complicity - Extreme provocation - Self defence and excessive self defence - Duress and necessity - Mental illness and substantial impairment by abnormality of mind (SIAM) - Automatism (involuntariness) -The use of evidence of mental illness or self-induced intoxication The preview contains extracts from the full notes and the summary notes. Note they are not in page order.
