It is a good/complicated unit. However,if you do not have an interest in politics then do not do this unit. If you must then do this external.

I'm giving this 4/5 because stepping into class each week was like throwing open the doors of a Marxist sanctuary and basking in the warm progressive glow for two hours. The lecturer was AMAZING and each week was basically him getting on a soap box and critiquing various aspects of Australian society and everyone having a chat about it afterwards. The assessment structure was questionable (5% in-class quiz every week so sucks to you if you had to go away or something) but the marks aren't hard to get in this unit. Also, beware because the lecturer uses very loud PowerPoint sound effects. Basically, this unit will either be the best or the worst thing for you. If you like chill tutorials and very discussion-y lectures (and if you LOVE the Greens), it'll be a nice reprieve from most of the other theory-heavy politics units. However, if that's not you, you will be disturbed (the lecturer said that there is 'a gay inside all of us' one time) so I'd hurry in the opposite direction probably.

I am thoroughly enjoying this unit, and would absolutely recommend it to anyone interested in modern politics. However, this may be because my political views align with the left, if you are right leaning or conservative you might not enjoy this course as much as I do.
