‘Principles of Australian Migration Law and Practice’ takes students through a comprehensive overview of Australian migration law and policy by examining the fundamental principles and the legal framework under which migration law exists, and some of the key concepts in the Migration Act 1958 (Cth) and Migration Regulations 1994 (Cth). It prepares graduates for careers in legal practice or in migration law and policy making. This is one of the four courses on aspects of migration law and practice. The other three course are 'Family, humanitarian and other non-skilled visas', 'Skilled, employer sponsored and business visas' and 'Compliance, visa cancellation and review'. Having done all four courses (achieving HD's in all), this is a useful introductory course to expand your knowledge on. The course co-ordinator Er-Kai Wang was engaging and provided a great environment to easily learn the materials. Guest speakers provided insight with the law and practice issues, pit-falls and challenges. COVID-19 made it interesting from all the changes with migration law and policies. It highlighted how Australia responds to current issues, challenges and manners to overcome barriers to migration issues.
