Reviews

Expectations were too high for this subject. Making students anxious about marks.

Pretty much like Yr 11 and 12 Advanced English with slightly higher expectations. Enjoyed doing the poetry and novel however did not like the last module (short stories and a play). If you love English and reading you'll find this subject enjoyable and rather easy to pass. However, i do not enjoy English as much, hence the lower rating.

This unit is very much like high school english. It relies on many of the same skills and knowledge. It's very easy to pass and all the material is very accessible.

A great overview unit on exegesis and textual criticism. Be prepared to read 2 novels (The Tribe and Salt Creek) and a thick unit reader which includes loads of interesting short stories and poems. The Peer Presentation was a killer (as all group assignments are), however, it was only worth 20% so that's something. Seem 1 2017 also had for assessments a 30% close reading of The Tribe and a 50% take home exam component (which is so much better than a sit-down exam any day!) Overall, I really enjoyed this unit bar the group work.

David is a fantastic lecturer, and the readings set are very engaging. Method of delivery is fantastic, and assessments are nice and gradual. Just make sure you talk in lectorials so David knows who you are.
