Enrolling in ACCT1101, I was met with a mix of excitement and trepidation, as accounting was a subject I had never encountered before. One of the standout features of ACCT1101 was the instructor, Mr. Leo. His passion for the subject was evident, though his voice occasionally proved to be a potent LULLABY during lectures. Despite this, his approachability and willingness to assist with accounting problems are really admirable. The lecture slides in ACCT1101 were dense with info, but the content was straightforward. While the sheer volume of words on the slides might seem overwhelming at first, they provided a comprehensive overview of the material. Reading the books was emphasized as a means to deepen knowledge, emphasizing the importance of actively engaging with the course material. Tutorial papers: While not mandatory, these tut were potentially assessable in the final exams. For those who had studied acct in high school, ACCT1101 was perceived as relatively EZ. However, for those like me, entering the course without prior accounting knowledge, the journey proved challenging. I received a grade of D as the average class performance of around 70/100 indicated the demanding nature of the subject matter. The group project in ACCT1101: a REAL GAMBLE. The success or failure of the project seemed related to your teammates. If faced with uncooperative or disengaged teammates, the project could become a source of stress, which will make u to stay late-night work sessions ( I got into this problem :( Anyways the past is the past, I hope by studying it, ju guys can deepen ur knowledge in acct!

Admittedly, I’m not a numbers person, so I was probably never going to love this unit. With that said, the lectures consistently went overtime and were hard to engage with. In the end I found it a far more effective and enjoyable use of time to simply read the textbook and take notes straight from there. The unit attempts to cover far too many learning objectives. As a 101 unit, it's fast paced and very overwhelming. If you’re someone who likes numbers and accounting then you’ll be fine, but it’s not the unit to take if you’re just curious about the subject. If I had to do it again I’d try to pair it with easy units so I could put all of my time and effort into it.

As long as you keep up with the lectures and tutorial questions each week, you will be fine. However, it is worth noting that not all of the tutorial questions are relevant, so you should check with your tutor on which ones you need to prioritise your understanding on. The exams are similar to the mock exams.

A great introductory accounting unit! The practical sessions are really helpful, especially to those with zero accounting background. You can still totally get an HD without any prior accounting knowledge. Just make sure to keep up with the classes.

This unit is fairly easy as long as you keep up with lectures and consistently do the worksheets and understand. Practical-wise, a lot of the exam coverage were from the mock and occasionally the worksheet. Theory-wise, it gets confusing what is expected to be covered. However, if you don't have any sort of business background, some of the concepts can be hard to grasp.

Well organised unit, but definitely not easy for someone who did not study Accounting and Finance for ATAR. The first few weeks were quite a learning curve and quite difficult, but after practice it gets better. Good introductory unit, but quite hard. There is a group project in this unit as well.

The lecturer is super nice but listening to the lectures only was not enough to fully understand the concepts. Lectures are important to pinpoint the main ideas and solve practical problems, but the textbook explains the concepts in greater detail and slower pace (I didn't have a business background). Overall, the unit was challenging, and lectures sometimes can be a bit of a dragged (there is a lot of theory) but Leo will try to cut it down. The key to getting the most out of the lectures is to read the objectives before the lectures and to focus on the part that Leo explains in detail (but you would need to learn to discern between him explaining things briefly and him explaining things extra briefly). The final exam is quite similar to the tutorial questions so I recommend spending time doing the tutorial practices. The trickiest part is the group project though. It was a bit of a hit or miss risky situation. If you find cooperative teammates, set a great timeline and do your best to meet the deadline, the group assignment will be toned down from level 10 to level 7-8. If not, very best of luck to you because that group task might be turning into a solo task in about a few weeks.

I really enjoyed this unit; however it is important that you keep up with the lecture content and workshops. Without a business background it could be very challenging but with constant practice and attending tutorials, you will be fine. Some concepts were not explained as thoroughly as they should have been which lead to confusion. The lectures tended to drag/waffle on a bit but the questions asked in the exams are very similar to the tutorial questions. The group assignment was enjoyable only if you had a focussed group, if not good luck to you. Basically, business background = do it, no business background but interested = challenge yourself.

This unit isn't for people with no business background. I repeat do not take it. The practical lectures are very useful but Leo's lectures suck. Not recommended!!!!

This unit was informative but also an easy unit to get a good mark. If you kept up with the work each week, making sure you understood the content, then the exam will not scare you. The group assignment is definitely achievable to get good marks in, just make sure you go through your answers with your tutor
