Reviews

There's a lot to cover in this unit. It gives you such a broad view of the key areas covered in political science. The unit is organised so that you are assessed on the reading which really helps you in the end, especially for the essay and exam. It's a core Pols unit but I recommend it to anyone interested in how the world works

I enjoyed this unit. I found it well organised and feel that it provided a good foundation for understanding the historical origins the the issues relating to the international system. It is not a unit for coasting, with regular tests each week to make sure the reading is done. But when it comes to exam revision it pays off. I also felt that the lecturer and the tutor had a genuine interest in seeing students engage with the subject and do well.

No where near as enjoyable or as well organised as POLS1101.

Poorly organised - content still being uploaded throughout semester, assessment dates changing and constant announcements. Requirements for tute presentations pretty vague. Quizzes due 11AM Monday morning on the week's reading so you need to be a week ahead at all times. Lectures are pretty much just reading off slides.

The unit is structured poorly. While the content is diverse and super interesting, the lecturer's use of technology needs to improve. There was also little clarity on the assignment schedule. Needs big improvements.

The content is interesting - however, the lecturer is useless, pretends to not be able to record lectures so she makes you come. Then complains when no one shows up! She is also too lazy to fix the problems and doesn't re-record when she messes up. Be careful, make sure your whole life revolves around this unit before selection. :)
